Árviz és evakuálás......

Reggel 10 körül bemondták a hangosbeszélőbe, hogy 12-kor evakuálják az épületet ahol az étterem van, mert a Brisbane folyó vize kb. 3 méteren fog tetőzni az dagálykor. De nem csak az Eagle street-et evakuálták, hanem a belső utcákat is. Rengeteg ember volt az utakon, a buszok tele voltak. A citycat nem jár, South Bank-nál viz alatt van a halyókikötő. Ahol mi lakunk szerencsére semmi nincs, csak eső:-(

12.42pm: EVACUATIONS IN BRISBANE, including the CBD. From the Courier Mail:

RESIDENTS in several suburbs in and around Brisbane have been told to evacuate immediately - with floods greater than 1974 expected to hit the southeast.

A wall of flood waters is heading towards Brisbane, with residents warned to prepare for a major flood and parts of the CBD being evacuated.

Places facing floods include Ipswich, Moggill, Jindalee, West End, Caboolture, Pine Rivers, Amberley, Walloon, Rosewood, Kalbar, Boonah, Kilcoy and Aratula and through a wide arc south including Stanthorpe and NSW border areas.


2.10pm: It's chaos in Brisbane. The Brisbane River has broken its banks, and there is flooding in many parts of the city. Commuters, frantic to get to higher ground and avoid being trapped by the waters, are trying to get out of the CBD - however, public transport is expected to shut down within an hour. This live traffic camera shows it's bumper to bumper on the Riverside Expressway.
